Why Ojo Maduekwe Must be Sacked with Immediate Effect PDF Print E-mail
By Emmanuel Franklyne Ogbunwezeh

Fellow Nigerians,

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ojo Maduekwe should be sacked with immediate effect. His incompetence and continued stay in that office is a danger to Nigerians all over the world. We should not only be protesting the death of Akpithanhi at the hands of Spanish authorities; or the degrading treatment meted out on Nigerians all over the world, but we should rise up and hold our own elected and appointed officials to account.

I think that we are living in another planet. A hundred and thirty eight Nigerians were summarily marched off the British Airways Flight at Heathrow in London simply for being Africans, and the Nigerian presidency was informed of it officially through the media. One then begins to wonder what both Mr. Ojo Maduekwe; the minister for foreign affairs and Nigeria High Commissioner to the UK are still doing in their duty posts. Our silence seems to be consolidating their incompetence. They should be sacked from office. Nigeria cannot abide this kind of destructive incompetence anymore. Where is the House of Representatives when they are needed? Where is the Senate? They should call for the resignation of these men, who are unfit for the posts they are occupying.

I wonder if a British Captain would have the effrontery to order 136 Americans or Germans or Israeli citizens off a flight they paid fully for, without immediate consequences, or without the Ambassadors of these countries being informed before any such silly action is taken.

I am not only miffed at the racist action of the British Airways. That is not surprising coming from a country that robbed and plundered other nations for fun, or a nation that conferred knighthoods on her high sea pirates. That is to be expected from a country, which plundered and gorged itself fat on the riches of other nations, and turns around to disrespect the citizens of the countries they plundered and rendered eternally unstable. The British Airways as a proud British institution told the world in unclear terms that the life and dignity of one Jew, is worth more than that of 138 Africans. I am miffed that Nigeria about a month after this undignified treatment of her citizens has not sent a strong worded response to the British authorities. I wonder why the country has not summoned the British ambassador to Nigeria. For how long will Nigerian be forced to eat this kind of shit from foreign airlines? For how long would we bear insults where our monies are accepted? What is our government doing? Nothing, only investigations!

I knew it that once a useless politician is appointed to such an office, Nigeria’s interests will be a casino for big time gamblers. Other countries will do everything to defend the rights and dignity of its citizens anywhere in the world. But our citizens are insulted at will because they perpetrators know that our government is an illegitimate one, who they put in office, and if any of them makes noise, they would kick him out. This brings to mind the sad fact that African leaders are not elected by the people but appointed by foreign governments and foreign secret services. It is a pity. I am not crying now. I am stating a fact. Yar Adua must relive uncle Ojo of his office. We cannot be abiding this kind of diplomatic irresponsibility at the detriment of our citizens. Nigeria is too big for the malodorous farts of one official.

Do we really have a people-oriented government? The Nigerian political class is not a class in the true sense of the word. They don't understand the rules of governance in a democratic dispensation. What do we expect from a country that is led by the blind?

Only a handful of our ministers and other public office holders understand the responsibilities of their office and what it means to be a public officer other than for their obnoxious salary/emolument and the ego that goes with the job. For them, they are the masters as oppose to being civil servants. Shame!

The problem is that we dont have leaders. I am stating it categorically here that in Nigeria today, the condemned prisoners are lesser criminal when compared with the so called leaders like Ojo Maduekwe, Aremu Obasanjo, Andy Uba and co. Then what do u expect when Ojo Maduekwe is manning the post of external affairs minister. It is just only the survival of the fittest. God help us.

A greater problem facing us today and which assist others in treating us as animals is that we LIE too much. We are pathological liars.

Were those Nigerians marched off the BA plane simply because they are Africans.

Let us begin to respect ourselves and others and they will respect us and treat us as human beings. Let us be certain that nothing will be gained from lying and that a liar is a criminal just as the treasury looter.

As for me , I feel more secure and will retain Ojo Maduekwe than follow a compulsive liar to my early grave. Is this the way to sack people. Na wa o. Indeed Ojo should go and get a seat at every airport in the world, every taxi park and train station and be there simultaneously. Who is expected to report such a matter (which is private anyway) to the consultate.

And if you feel strongly about anything happening on a foreign soil or in a foreign airline, please seek redress in a decent manner and not in a manner that will make them conclude that we indeed have tails. As for me, until we learn to respect others and mind the way we go about enforcing our rights, i will continue to fly British Airways.

Nothing can be truer than those. Thanks, Taslim.

It is evident that some Nigerians are a bunch of nuisance. Why are Camerounians and Ghanaians, for e.g., not treated similarly.

The writer seems to forget that the last ambassadorial postings was a "PDP-Settlement" for some of "the Boys" for an election well-rigged!

And did you ask where the House of Rep and Senate are? :D
C'mon, you cant be serious. You really made me grin as in :D :D :D :D

Okay, l'll tell you where they are:
House of Rep is too busy juggling the budget and some of them are cruising all over Abuja is their NEW CARS from the Plaza-joint to another. And a few ones are chasing the IPP rot and trying to retrieve the whole of Abuja (plots of land) from Baba Iyabo's grasp, with the help of his heartless lackey, El Rufai.
As for the Senate, they are just too confused on what to make of their new responsibility: To catch an Olympian by the name of Iyabo! Pot bellied men and women, trying to catch the Gold medalist high jumper-daughter of an expired General... Just too busy.

By the way, whats their business with 136 Nigerians when they are not bothered with 140Million poverty-stricken others, under siege of armed robbers?
Abeg, forget. Tok another story joo.

Uncle Ojo-Nmadueke is on Paternity leave for the next eight years

Once some Nigerians are close to or given a RED-PEE, they become more British than the whiteman and the way they insult their fatherland would make you wonder if the word "Omo'aale" was invented by a whiteman!
But no matter how much rubbish they spew from their uncouth mouth, a wound, no matter how healed, can never be as fresh as the original skin.....and thats just what they are: A WOUND

Yeyee dey smell!
