US Dirty Tricks In The Zimbabwe Election PDF Print E-mail

The Zimbabwean election has been a hotbed of intrigue and misinformation. One of the major perpetrators of the dirty tricks has been the U.S. Government, through people who have been sheltered  and protected in the embassy.

Last evening, ZANU-PF announced that it was taking the MDC to court. Two MDC guys were caught trying to bribe ZEC officials to produce favourable results to MDC. That is what the raids were about.

The main perpetrators of all the confusion were the representatives of the National Democratic Institute (NDI), an integral part of USAID. Several of the NDI officials (operating from within the US Embassy) were also arrested and handed to the US Embassy for immediate deportation. The NDI people were the source of most of the disinformation being circulated by email and SMS from within the US embassy. They circulated fake stories about attempted assassinations of Tsvangirai; fake press conference; fake election results; faked attacks on the populace. This NDI were the same ones who were doing all the dirty ops in Kenya after its election; the idea being to circulate false reports so as to agitate violence that would result in an international outcry in support of the opposition.

Even more bizarre, the UN OCHA representatives have been making claims that there was vote-rigging in the high-density suburbs among the people who were the victims of Operation Murambatsvina (Operation Drive Out Trash or Operation Drive Out Rubbish), also officially known as Operation Restore Order, a large scale Zimbabwean government campaign to forcibly clear slum areas across the country in 2005. The UN representatives cited voter role tampering in high density suburbs. They argued that the electoral roll contained the names of dead voters on empty stands not removed from the voters’ register. ZANU PF conceded that this was an anomaly on the voters roll, but since most of these dead voters, and empty stands were supposedly beneficiaries of UN OCHA plastic sheet housing, and voted MDC, their names and votes and should be stricken from the voters role immediately!!

The latest actual tally (which will be announced today)  ZANU- PF with 44. 6%, MDC 48.3 and the  balance to MDC Mutambara and Simba Makoni.

All the wild fantasies of Tsvangirai and his PR man, Biti, have discredited much of what the MDC says in the eyes of their own supporters who have slumped into a deep lethargy.

Africans should always be aware that the introduction of 'neutral observers' in their elections is not an altruistic pursuit. There are many governments and agencies who feel they have a stake in the results of these elections and have no compunction about telling lies and suborning violence to further their aims.

Perhaps the US will stop using its dirty tricks brigade in the upcoming runoff election.

The biggest mistake Robert Mugabe has made is to allow the bumboy Morgan Changarai and his cohorts to emerge as the most prominent opposition in Zimbabwe.

This is the same basic error that our African politicians keep making.

If only the old man and his colleagues had been smart and cunning enough to set up their own opposition.....Morgan would be irrelevant and right now, Mugabe would be handing over to whoever 'beat' him in the selections....

But we should not despair, I am sure that the day is coming when we Africans will be able to join the ranks of those who have mastered all the tricks of this 'democracy' racket.

Or better still, just criminalize/legislate the stooge into oblivon.

Anyway, Mugabe should long since have looked for an Afrocentric heir knowledgable in the ways of the world especially the West to hand over to.

I am strongly against a man ruling for 28 years, but i know clearly that Mugabe is not the despot the western press is making him. When Mugabe took farm lands from the whites, and the locals in resonance killed white farmers and looted houses, it was now a war between britain and Mugabe, and the brits will avenge for the deaths of citizens, in this black and white war I rather wish Mugabe wins over tsvangirai, and soon after leave the stage through political or natural death.

What do Africans know: they listen to CNN and the BBC and think they are hearing the gospels . One of the reasons the West can't remove Mugabe is because he is highly intelligent. And I have heard European politicians and journalists, who have met him, admit this.

These days, one keeps hearing the word “Poliburo” to describe the Zimbabwean government. Is this unintentional? I don't think so; it is part of the “Rhodesian” propaganda against Mugabe, who is a democrat.

I also think that if the West had left Mugabe alone, that is, without the threats of trying him at the Hague, he would probably have handed over power to someone else. With all these threats, his best protection is to remain as the president for as long as possible.

The West is heavily relying on Morgan Tsvangirai, but do Zimbabweans trust this former general foreman of nickel mine? With a “porridge face” like his (As my late aunt would say when talking about a neighbour) “Every looks like a thief but he looks more a thief.”

Americas Stance on Zimbabwe is Divided in two, There is the Ideology Group that thinks all races and nations should abide by Western Forms of Democracy & rule, with Europeans in charge.

And the reality Capitalist Group that thinks only in Dollars signs, They see the Zimbabwe situation as a big PLUS!! Why? Buy Burning all the Tobacco farms they have put the America's as the Number one Dealers in Tobacco world wide!! UNDISPUTED! So why would they want to end a Good thing??

I say, the later group will prevail. Just like in Iraq, the longer the War continues the price of oil will remain high, and who benefits???:surprised

One interesting aspect to this article is that there is no actual avidence presented that the U.S. is engaged in any "dirty tricks."

"Dr. Gary K. Busch" appears to be a kook at best, a lunatic at worst (back in 2006 he endorsed someone named Daniel Imperato for the 2008 race). He should know that NDI is not a USG organization, but an NGO sponsored by the Democratic Party.

Bottom line, he's a wacko trying to ingratiate himself with somebody in Zimbabwe -- likely he's on Mugabe's payroll in some sort of advisory role.

There is a distinct difference between African people and their government. In fact, I can say the interest of ordinary African people and their government (elites that is) are diametrically opposed. The elites sell freedom from colonialism and replaces it with high octane corruption, maiming , jailing and genocide. It is high time those who have brains left to reason to decouple their nationalistic sentiments from this enterprise of buying into the African leader with the hope of freeing the African people. African "leaders" like Mugabe, Obasanjo and Mobutu are the enemies within. They reinforce the claim of the white man that Africans are not capable of governing themselves.

Opposition are not the enemy- they are in place to make you better. If only educated Africans and their elite leaders will get it. Of course patriotism (nationalism that is) is the last refuge of scoundrels. What is Mugabe afraid of? His own shadows? At the end, MDC, USA or ZANU-PF it is the people of Zim that pay. What is wrong with allowing their vote and wishes count? Man up and stop behaving like cowards!
