Is It Final Blow For Andy Ubah As Soludo “Enters” The Race?

"All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."
Edmund Burke, (1729-1797)

I believe many keen observers of event in my beloved state – Anambra, will be wondering what next for Andy Ubah after the Supreme Court Ruling that struck out his case saying, “it was a mere waste of time and an attempt to make a mockery of the judiciary”. The big question now is what next? Will he give up? Or will he go back to the drawing board and strategize for 2010 ambush after the expiration of current Obi’s tenure?

The truth is that we all know the dragon is not going to rest until the mission of “conquering” Anambra state is accomplished. Left alone, the likes of Peter Obi, APGA, Ngige, AC etc cannot stop Andy come 2010. With the current political realities on the ground and the present constitution of INEC, it will just be a matter of rehearsals of the April 2007 insanity.

It will however, only take the collective determination of the good people of the state to weather the storm.

I will thus inform the good people of my state, our friends and lovers of democracy in Nigeria that the battle is not over yet. There is a saying: that if you can’t take the heat, don’t tickle the dragon, and that if you dispute land ownership empty-handed, the person who has yams will be planting them. That is why am commending all those behind the current move to draft Prof. Soludo into the race come 2010

He who carries the carcass of an elephant does not search for crickets with his legs. We don’t have to leave a live dragon out of our calculations, because we live near them. Justice Oguntade bluntly told one of the dragons during this latest attempt: "I have a feeling that you are a crook and one of those who go about exploiting politicians. You are most irresponsible citizen of this country going about to blackmail people. You are a common crook. From where did you derive the courage to approbate and reprobate?" Anambra state my people, is still full of common crooks and dragons referred to above.

In all great compounds there must be people of all minds - some good, some bad, some fearless and some cowardly; those who bring in wealth and those who scatter it, those who give good advice and those who only speak the words of palm wine. That is why we say that whatever tunes you play in the compound of a great man there is always someone to dance to it.

Let us all join hands and keep up the beat of sanity, accountability, purposeful leadership and vision and see whether Soludo will emerge from this our huge compound and dance. If he however refuses to answer the clarion call, we all have to beckon on another good and sane 'rioko' in our midst to lead us to the dance of freedom. No more tunes for the dragons that scatter our wealth, no more fake and misplaced dance steps from those who speak the words of palm wine.

While the Supreme Court may have postponed the big fight for us, let us make this “2010 Rumble in Anambra Stae” a sucker punch – the final blow

This write-up presupposes that no change would take place in Nigeria come 2010, that Iwu would remain the INEC chairman and that the war on corruption would have achieved nothing or even embolden the present crop of government officials from the president down to LG council chairman to loot more. The direction of the government is pointing that way. Well my premise is based on the realization that if the polity is sanitized and Nigeria strives to do things the normal way, the likes of Uba and Soludo would no longer be relevant in the scheme of things. There is no way Soludo would escape mention in the mindless looting that took place under Obj'. Every regime that has looted the nation since independence did so with the active connivance of the central bank of Nigeria. The author should rather worry about having positive changes in Nigeria than starting a campaign for Soludo ahead of 2010. He is just an educated gentleman who doesn't believe in flaunting his wealth, but he far from being a saint.

Given that Soludo has the capability to turn Nigeria around through monetary policies, i rather would want him serve Nigeria than Anambra State, that is if this administration has the courage to do something differently,

Its difficult to understand the motive of this article.
Is it the usual subtle attempt to draft an otherwise unsuspecting Soludo into a race he has no intention of running or is the writer doing a yeoman's job for Soludo?

Rather than halucinate about who runs the state in 2010, the writer, nay, the people of Anambra State should strive to make the State a better place to live in and try to neutralize the power of fake Doctorate degree holders and illeterate businessmen-politicians in that State no matter their wealth.

The supreme court has done its job for now, let tomorrrow take care of itself.

Hi, Mr. Overdryv!

Beyond indulging in beer parlour level blowing of 'tory and rumour peddling, do you have any concrete PROOF about your above seemingly sweeping remarks? That is to say:

(a) Every regime that has looted the nation since independence did so with the active connivance of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

(b) Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo is just an educated gentleman who doesn't believe in flaunting his wealth, but is far from being a saint.
I beg do quick-quick, answer me, jo.

Muchas gracias.

Oga Abraxas,

Na you dey talk like dis? Man weak o! As you giv oder make I answer you quick quick, I I Sir! I salut o!

Anywaz pardon my ignorance, I dont have any concrete evidence but I know that all monies that accrue to the federal govt are cleared by the CBN and that includes money earned by NNPC. Soludo as the governor knows the minutest details of all monetary transactions involving the govt. To pretend that Soludo is not aware of all illegal withdrawals by Obj, PDTF, secrete accounts, money laundering by commercial banks and other deals, is simply being mischievous.
We have been talking of the gulf war oil windfall in which IBB is said to have pocketed $12.5 billion. Do you honestly believe that IBB could have transferred this sum without involving the CBN governor at the time? It is not possible to talk of corruption at the federal level without a mention of the CBN governor who is the chief banker of the nation.
It has recently become the norm for people to ask for proofs. Examples are: Obj slept with the daughter-in-law, Obj's corruption, Anenih's 300 billion road budget et al. It is an exercise in futility to ask for evidence of corruption in Nigeria. It is clearly there for any one to see. If $10 billion was voted for power by Obj to fix power in Nigeria and there is nothing on the ground to show any improvement, then what happened to this amount? Where are the projects IBB used the gulf war oil windfall on? I call on you to make your own judgment.

Blatantly missing in this article is not giving credit to whom it's due, that is, to Peter Obi who quietly changed the face of politics in Anambra state with his steely doggedness. He fought for over two years to claim the mandate Ndianambra gave to him, refusing entreaties from far and near. Ngige even expressed his frustration at "the young" who refused to be "settled" with appointments and contracts. Unfortunately Obi is not a man of many words and spurns the idea of blowing his own trumpet. Because of that many easily underrate him. But it has worked time and again to his advantage and to the advantage of Ndianambra.

I dare say that the new found confidence in the nation's judiciary owes a lot to the determined, disciplined, and rock solid faith Obi reposed in the judiciary throughout his travails. This unshakable faith in the judiciary has led to landmark judgements that have thrown his opponents, from Nwabueze Ngige to Nnamdi Uba, into a profound confusion that confounded some so-called legal luminaries alike. Nnamdi Uba was so confused that in his latest outing he went to the Supreme Court to sue the Supreme Court itself! Ngige was so confused that he suddenly discovered he needed to go for medical attention overseas which left him no time to properly hand over to his successor a state he had been running from his bedroom!

As for Soludo, methinks he's too close to Washington for any reasonable comfort for Nigerians. During his tenure Nigeria has made more money ever from crude oil. Did that strengthen the naira or the buying power of Nigerians? Apart from giving us mega banks, as if that was the problem, what, in concrete terms has his monetary policies done for the average Nigerian in positive terms? He panders too readily to oppressive Western financial institutions whose interests begin and end with maintaining their economic imperialism on the so-called second, third and enth worlds.

Governor Obi is doing well and deserves the support of Ndianambra. There is a quiet revolution going on in the state which may be a prelude to the transformation of how politics is done in Nigeria.

Nwanne, let us give honour to whom it is due. You don't have to like Peter Obi to appreciate the invaluable contributions he has been making to Anambra and Nigeria alike.

INEC can go ahead and rig elections but as we've been seeing in one case after another, the so-called results are being overturned. I don't think it'll be any different when the next governorship election is held in Anambra. They'll again meet a polity that could be taken for a ride.
