There has been many positive developments since the last time I reported on the inauguration of All Saints Igbo Anglican Church in the Episcopal Diocese of Washington on Sunday September 16th, 2007 in a piece The Significance Of All Saints Igbo Anglican Church In DC. Since this inauguration, a vibrant Mothers Union has been constituted which not only gives young mothers the opportunity to belong to the prestigious motherhood organization but also offers the Nigerian community an excellent forum to celebrate Mothers Day in style – the same way it is done back home. The Sunday School for the kids has been growing and just last year, a youth group was formed to cater for the spiritual needs of the teenagers. It was a beauty to behold last year as children read the Bible and virtually conducted the service in Igbo in a special church service dedicated for them. And the All Saints Igbo church has promised to do that again this year. The Igbo church also organized a successful Nigerian Singles Mixer in August last year for young adults in the DC metro area. http://nigeriansinglesmixer.blog.com/ Just few months ago, the Igbo Anglican congregation in Washington DC area has set another milestone with the acquisition and development of a property at 5901 through 5903 MEDICAL TER Hyattsville, MD 20785. They will hopefully be moving into their permanent church building by the last quarter of 2009 and are appealing to all well meaning Nigerians for support. As All Saints Igbo Anglican Church continues to grow from strength to strength, they are urging all Nigerians in the DC metro area and visitors alike to come and worship with them. A mustard tree starts with a tiny seed and takes some time to grow to maturity. Yeast as well takes time to leaven a whole loaf of dough as it works quietly and persuasively within. All Saints is maturing and the process is spiritual in that people's hearts are changed through the preaching of the Gospel, and whose minds are then influenced and changed by the teaching of biblical principles. The congregation of the church believes in building a vibrant community that cares for one another, a community that will identify with members in times of need and in celebration. They are inviting all Nigerians to come and celebrate special father’s day service with them at United Methodist Church, 5512 Whitfield Chapel Road, Lanham MD. 20706, 1.30pm on Sunday June 21st, 2009. More information and up coming events about the church can be assessed via their website www.allsaintsigboanglicanchurch.org/
