ME AND MY DEAREST MOTHER By Hon. Chinedu Opukiri-Nkwonta My dearest mother asked me few days ago if I feel vindicated considering all the reports in the press about Peter Obi, she got herself into trouble, serious trouble. Beautiful young Bayelsa lady of 77, she was not expecting the long and confusing answers she got herself into. Thinking about it now, I can imagine what was going through her mind as I spoke. What have I gotten myself into, God why did I ask this question that I thought will be simple, how do I escape from this son of mine, I could feel my mother thinking. If I had been shut dead by people (including personal friends) that felt I was pursuing a vendetta against Peter, it would have been a different story today; I would have been long dead, finito. If I had been attacked by people that felt I was a big clog obstructing the progress of my State, I would still be licking my wounds today. If Peter Obi’s hitmen that connived with the police in Awka and locked me up in police cell for the first time in my life had succeeded in their elaborate plans of parading me on the television as a common criminal and de-robbing me of any dignity left anywhere at all had succeeded, I would have been humiliated for ever. Now imagine my mum’s situation. I know the pains involved in writing and baring ones innermost thoughts for the public to read and access, it is worst than being naked in the public. I was warned about the consequences of writing but the real consequences most times still come as shock, we never see them coming. So many people felt I was compromised by some group when I write. Some did believe I was paid so much money by some sponsors, I was never deterred, it only made me very aware of how naïve so many of us are on political issues especially the African political issues and gimmicks. Being a Professor in politics does not guarantee perfect understanding and prognosis of political situations. There are people that are blessed by God with the ability to read people reasonably well by just observing them walk. No quantity of education or training would make that possible if it is not from God. How come some lawyers, doctors, architects, entertainers etc are more successful than the others? The truth is that I have recognised that God blessed me with the ability to access situations and raise the correct concerns. It is not my making and it does not mean I am smarter than others but merely means that I may be more gifted in such an area than most. These most are gifted in other areas where people like us lack. I have never seen myself as a good writer but believe me, I can talk. Most times I feel I confuse myself and others due to my inability to express myself well enough through writing, but that’s ok, I am happy and at home in other areas. Can you feel my mother’s pain listening to me and mapping her escape? Let me say the part that really makes me proud, it is the great feeling that I was never fooled by the man Peter Obi. I keep my head high and thank God for his mercies. Peter Obi never felt am up to anything, I was reliably told recently that he described me as an economic refugee in London that wanted to rub shoulders with the business migrants like him, I really laughed more than I have laughed for a long time, it exposes the disdain he holds people that he really does not know, I was able to read through him very early. I read all the criticisms and confessions of some of his associates in-crime and so called former friends and I laugh, are they just waking up? Obele Chuka and so many others can say what they want to say about him now, why did they not say it when it was necessary? With due respect, I do not care what Peter wants to give any one or what the person wants to do with it, I can never be a friend to any policy or principle that go against my morale, I do not know how to pretend. Any one that has supported this government for any reason is equally guilty. My bigger concern with the entire political thing is the ignorant position so many of our very educated and exposed have taken. Many of my friends really felt I have been a bigger problem for our State than Peter; it was so bad they told me so. I am glad they have all come back now that they know the truth, not even one is left. Thank God for time. Peter Obi made every one believe that Andy Uba burnt the entire State; some people are beginning to sing today. So many of us can never imagine that it is possible for a government to set the State on fire as to attract sympathy, it is because we are mainly decent people and can never imagine such thought, we see things most times from our point of view. It is because we are decent and programmed, that is why we are predictable. Any mind manipulator can have a party with our minds at their own peril. What happens if we find out Andy Uba did not burn down Anambra State after all? Would we have believed Andy Uba or any one if they had suggested that the government actually burnt down the government house? We would have stoned the man to death and would have gone home in jubilation thanking God that we have gotten rid of our problem. Andy would have gone like that, Mum are you getting my drift? Fake documents were produced by the government to smear Dame Etiaba. Dame Etiaba that denied herself the governorship and allowed Peter back was treated as a common criminal by the manipulator. Peter knew that burning of government house will not stick with the poor grand mother so she had to be lumbered with embezzlement and extravagance in government. Peter suddenly could not know exactly how many billions that he left before impeachment. Mum, please stop dozing off, am still talking. I do not understand why people really want to stop him now; he is the greatest economist of our generation, just look at how he has transformed the State. We now have the stock exchange which has created great jobs, we have the hospitals accredited and there is no reason to die there anymore, death fears accreditation certificate, just paste it at the entrance and all sickness would run away. The hospitals do not require drugs and the doctors can go to hell. Peter the miracle worker that installed computers in our institutions that do work very well under the mango trees, they do not require electricity and they are water and theft proof. The great redeemer has saved the State 100 billion naira, he must come back again and let no one even try to open their mouth to say a word, you ungrateful Anambrarians, after all, do you know Bill Gates? You all MUST be grateful that the man Peter `the rock` wants to govern you again. There must not be any election as that would amount to ingratitude. By the end of the next four years, you all would have all your monies fixed at Fidelity; you do not need naira in hell as you all would be dead any way. The generations unborn shall have great start in stocks and shares. If any one by the name Idengeli na Nawfia shows his face by any chance, stone him and just blame Andy Uba. On a second thought, I shall remain in Britain sorting my economic refugee status. Muuuuummmmm!!!!!! Are you there? Poor woman, she has ran off, I do not blame her, it was only a yes or no question, see the problem she has caused herself, I just pray she is not on her way to Nigeria straight to Bayelsa, what do I tell my mother’s family? Just see the problem that I have caused myself, Petaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!
