Mbadinuju: Lest We Forget PDF Print E-mail
By Chidi Anyaeche
Let us not forget the man Clement Chinwoke Mbadinuju and his atrocities for in Nigeria, memories are too shallow and we forget easily. But lest Clement’s misrule be permanently ingrained in us otherwise history, as is always the case in Nigeria, will continue to repeat itself.

Clement Chinwoke Mbadinuju was elected to govern Anambra state from May 1999 to May 2003; to provide jobs for the jobless, food for the needy, education for our children, pension benefit for the old that had toiled and sweated for the state, roof over the heads of the roofless, roads for us travel, electricity to power our homes, offices and businesses, good hospitals for when we are ill, clean water for us to drink, amongst all the good things of life. Clement was provided with the resources to provide all these things and more but it appears that either the devil got hold of him or that he got hold of the devil.

And what did we get from Clement: no jobs for the jobless, the needy left unfed, children denied access to education, pensioners labelled ‘dead-woods’ by Clement and abandoned to die, the roofless denied roof and exposed to the elements, roads turned into death-traps. Homes, offices and businesses left with out power. Hospitals turned into mortuaries. Dysentery, cholera and typhoid infected water for us to drink. Then there is the unresolved brutal murder of Barnabas Igwe and his pregnant wife, Abigail. Clement what did we do to you?

And yet we are about to forget Clements atrocities on us, we, his people, his kit and clan, his family. God forbid.

“Vengeance is mine” says the Lord. Yes, vengeance is the Lords and it is eternal but our vengeance on Clement, to people like him, to rest of the politicians and office-holders that chose the path of perfidy, should be, not to forget. Clement, we shall not forget you and your transgressions against us.

“The way of the Lord is different form the way of man”. Again, yes, I agree but he is Lord and we are men. Let the Lord deal with Clement and his likes in his own way and let us men do what we can to help the Lord and that is by not forgetting Clements atrocities on us, to pass it on to our children and children’ children so that the likes of Clement will never besiege our state (or indeed any other state) again.

Time, they say is a healer. Yes, I agree but Clements needless brutality on we, his people, his brothers, his kit and clan cannot be and will not be healed with time. Time will not educate the children that missed a full academic session because of Clements greed. Time will not resurrect the dead pensioners. Time will not heal the psychological damage inflicted on us by our brother, Clement. Time will not cure the malnutrition induced stunted growth of our children caused by Clement for when they mature, their age-mates outside Anambra state will be taller than them. Time will not bring back Barnabas and Abigail Igwe. Thanks to you Clement.

In Nigeria, we have a penchant of forgetting and forgiving easily those that have transgressed against us, against our children, against generations unborn. In Nigeria, we have a habit of tolerating those that have committed crimes against their brothers, their sisters, and their own. In Nigeria we have a habit of rehabilitating those that have sinned against God, against gods and against man. This, our custom of forgetting, forgiving, tolerating and rehabilitating only makes them to come back and inflict more damages on us. Lest not forget, forgive, tolerate and rehabilitate Clement otherwise he will come back and hurt us even deeper for his likes have no conscience.

Buhari murdered democracy by his criminal take-over of government in 1983,  Buhari’s government judicially murdered Bartholomew Owo in 1984, Buhari was a principal player in Sanni Abacha’s government (via PTF) that dehumanised its own people. Today we have rehabilitated Buhari, he was a presidential candidate, seeking a platform to come back and dehumanise us further for we chose to forget and forgive.

Babangida spat on us, trampled on our sanity, insulted our integrity. Babangida raped us, sodomised we his own flesh and blood yet today he is seeking an avenue to come back for the final solution, to finish us off, for we chose to forget and forgive.

Had the cold hands of death not snatched Sanni Abacha, we may have immortalised him alive by now for we chose to forget and live with his brutality.

Our last egunje President, Obasanjo, if time is on his side will in due course be forgiven and rehabilitated. But thank God, time is not on his side.

My brothers the Igbo’s are annually killed in the North and annually they return again to be killed for they chose to forget and forgive.

Oil pipe-line vandals are roasted to death yearly and yearly they are roasted for they chose to forget.

Banks fail every year and every year we bank with failed banks for we chose to forget.

Yearly politicians promise us heaven and earth without delivering and yearly we listen and believe them for we chose to do so.

Elections are frequently rigged and frequently we participate in rigged elections for we chose to forget.

Have we not forgotten about Umaru Dikko? Soon he will be made minister for finance.

Because we chose to forget that is why the ‘powers’ that be think we are stupid and that is why they always come back. Think about Buhari, think about Babangida. What are they doing in a democratic setting?

My people, Clement had the impudence to seek election as a senator in 2007, to represent we his people of Anambra state that he ‘prudently’ served as governor for we chose to forget and forgive. Should we forget and forgive Clement’s carnage on us, his people, he will come back for more blood.

Clement also goes by the name ‘Odera’ meaning destined by God. Yes, it has been destined by God that Anambra state will never have another Clement, Amen.

Cicero wrote “The evil implanted in man by nature spreads so imperceptibly, when the habit of wrong-doing is unchecked, that he himself can set no limit to his shamelessness”. This should be a wake-up call for us all should we choose to forget the likes of Clement.

Let us then not forget Clement Chinwoke Mbadinuju and his malevolence governance of Anambra state between May 1999 and May 2003. Clement the governor who carried a bible in his right hand and juju (Anu na ebe) in his left hand. Let us not forgive his like, neither should we tolerate nor rehabilitate him, lest we live to regret.

A few people are benefiting from the confusion and disorderliness in the land. The scary bit is that it seems that only the evil hawks are there to be selected into leadership positions. Mbadinuju wants to be in the senate because he knows our votes dont count but rather the strength of his rigging machinery. When I asked a few of my wise friends if they will vote for Pat Utomi as president they mumbled No explaining that Nigeria is too strong for him to handle. We actually dont have a choice in most cases, The Igbos return to the North because they will grow hungry if they stayed back, the pipeline vandals will risk roasting because poverty stares him in the eyes. I wanted to understand what Pat Utomi cant handle better than Babangida, the reply was the army and powerful cabals. let more people like Pat Utomi stay within reach of the presidency, its better we let them have a shot at the presidency. I dont see why he cant handle the army when he doesnt give them justification to plot a coup. Its a risk what taking
