Thanks Chidi once again for drawing our attention via photographs to the injustice perpetrated by the Nigerian state to a minority group because the powers that be regard Niger Delta as a conqured territory for which they must share in the spoils of war.

Yet those in Abuja who control the powers of state continue to delude themselves with preachment of peace and harmony which as you can see from the photographs are illusionary in Niger Delta.

The Niger Delta people are no longer begging for resource control again. Time is coming and very soon there will be no more oil to export then the cabals will come home to face realities for a genuine negotiation on how to address all the years of deceit unleashed upon Niger Deltans.

Both the government and their foreign oil and gas collaborators will soon be witnessing dwindling resources from crude oil and gas sales as it will become impossible to extract a barrel of oil without suffering huge loses in the process. We are watching and very soon the falsehood will be over and truth will triumph.

Please bear in mind that the conditions have only gotten worse since the pictures you see were taken. I won't try to tell anyone what to think of these, I trust that as fellow Nigerians, Africans you can make up your own mind. I can show you video from Darfur in Sudan, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Congo, CAR, Angola, Equatorial Guinea, Zimbabwe, Somalia, Rwanda and you will see something very familiar. All of them have something in common and it is not the Nigerian government. They constitute the richest real estate in Africa and the only remaining wealth of the Black race with raw materials such as Oil, Rubber, Timber, Diamonds, Gold, Fertile Farmland, Coltan etc. The people who have raped Africa for centuries intend to continue forever. Know your enemy, the true source and architect of your pain is he who gains most and no matter the illusion you have been led to believe, he is not AFRICAN.

The Niger Deltans (NDs) are a bunch of ridiculous clowns. BTW, my state is amongst the 9 states making up the ND. Aren't some of them the same people who welcomed their ''illustrious'' sons (eg, Ibori, Alams, Odili and Kalu, etc) back home after 8 years of thievery unlimited. How can NDs eat their cake (by supporting those who looted the little resources they managed to extract from the Yoruba and Hausa overlords) and still want to have it? Impossible.

But again I ask, what the FGN is doing with other resources in other parts of the country? For example, why is precious stone been mined by individuals in Oyo, Ogun, Ebonyi, Kogi, Kaduna and other states? To whom do these private miners pay taxes? Are the taxes (if any) shared amongst the 36 states? Why are some Nigerians controlling their resources and others not?

The problem with you Nigerians is that you never try to educate yourselves or you are just too wicked to accept the truth.

The job of insisting that oil companies should protect the ecology of the Niger Delta is not the work of any state government but that of the Nigerian state.

Oil has been flowing from the creeks of the Delta for over 5 decades with all the money going to other parts of Nigeria.

When the people of Ife and Modakeke fought because of gold found on their land Obasanjo secretly took them to Abuja and worked out a gold sharing agreement for them.

When my grandparents were fishermen they built houses that even those with cocoa plantation could not build but today people cannot even feed from fishing because of the pollution.

Despite the U.K. being a strong ally of the U.S. the British Petroleum was not spared following the disaster that occured in their plant.

Even when there were legislations and courts orders to clean up the spills and compensate the victims your former president Olusegun Obasanjo insisted that the oil company involved should disobey the various court orders and the senate.


If NNPC which is wholly owned the federal government of Nigeria is the major oil firm in Nigeria why should`nt one see the Nigerian state as the major problem?

If Obasanjo was exthorting money from the Niger Delta governors how do you expect them to perform well in their respective states? What we have been insisting is that the people of the Niger Delta should be allowed to make democratic choices and not for you to select quasi colonial administrators and start intimidating them for finances only for you to arrest them in a bid to conceal your illegal financial deals with them.

You Nigerians are just a bunch of Yahoo Yahoos.The 13 per cent derivation policy is a clear example of how fraudulent the Nigerian state and her key actors are. Today 13 percent is based on a state`s production tommorow it is based on the federal governments annual budget in the middle of the year they will make supplementary budget and would not remember to pay derivation on that budget supplement.
Later they will take part of the 13 per cent to pay for the sardines Babangida bought for those rapist of our mothers and daughters.As if that one is not enough the Nigerian government will make special budget for the oldest Agbero Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu.

Where were you when Olusegun Obasanjo went to exthort millions of euros from Niger Delta governors to finance the purchase of military hardwares which in reality is a federal duty.

If the Niger Delta`s resources could be used in building stadiums in Lagos, Abuja e.t.c. Why can the same be done in the Delta.In other states there are federal projects could anyone pinpoint projects that were executed by the national government in the Niger Delta.

Why I dont bother myself is because Nigeria just like pharoah`s Egypt seems to have made up her mind never to rest until Nigeria`s Pharoah and his troops are swallowed by the red sea.

And I would paraphrase that further this way: If the evil PDP headed by Obasanjo and his clique had the policy of demanding that its (s)elected and imposed governors on innocent states, make their returns from the funds allocated to their states, how well do they believe they were expected to perform?

Having concurred with you above, that still does not excuse those theiving governors. Why did they not resist that demand, like Ngige of Anambra did. Ngige despite joining PDP and stealing the mandate of another candidate, the stock in trade of PDP, he refused to yeild to their demand, but instead used the money to build Anambra roads.

Just my own thoughts too, Harmattan. I have seen similar pictures, taken by other photogroahers; they never fail to move me, but the Niger Delta leadership itself is a tragedy. I saw what gas flaring feels like when I did my NYSC orientation at Abraka in the 80s. We were very far from Warri, at least 100 km, but you could see the flares. And when Abacha hanged Saro-Wiwa, the world saw worse pictures. Even up to this moment, I find it very difficult to buy fuel from Shell, anywhere in the world. But while we chase away the wild cats, we have to caution the chickens not to wander too far into the bush. Even the little money that is given to the Niger Delta to develop infrastructure is pilfered by men like Odili, Jonathan (the billionnaire lecturer), Ibori, Alams, etc. I know that some of the things that SHOULD be done transcend the state govts - there is nowhere else in the world where 2m high oil pipes are laid on the surface. We were told that gas flaring would end more than 2 decades ago, but our officials take bribes and allow it to continue.

The Niger Delta should come together. Ijaws should not fight Urhobos, or Ikwerres fight Ogoni. They should have a common cause; desist from the criminality (kidnapping of 90-year-old pops) that currently occurs and fight the true fight. I don't mind if Nigeria stops selling oil; it does not help the country - it only breeds indolence and corruption.

SAD, take it easy. That I stated an additional source of the Niger Deltans nemesis does not rule out the main source of the problem, the federal government. But think of it, while the poor people of delta were crying, your leaders were crying louder but for their pockets, that to me is more sad, because they could have affected the lives of the people positively if they wanted to. And after stealing from the people, they were still treated as heros by the same people, and yet the people still complain. This is Nigeria for you my brother.

The answer is quite simple! Anambra had no economic value for pirates likes Obasanjo.
When it came to the Niger Delta he always sent his troops to forment trouble but in the case of Anambra he sub-contracted the job of trouble making to one of their sons Chief Chris Uba.

Anyone that says there were no politicians who resisted the extreme acts of the central government must be either ignorant or unwilling to accept the truth if not why were the likes of Marshall Harry,A.K.Dikibo, Monday Ndor and co killed.

Chief Alamieyeseigha,Chief Attah and Chief Ibori were at the forefront of the resource control struggle.Today Alamieyeseigha is the only public official to face a long term jail sentence even though there have been several who had similiar problems in the U.K.

In Alamieyeseigha`s case Obasanjo blackmailed him in the west all in his bid to gain a greater stranglehold on the Delta(Obasanjo viewed the region as a fiefdom for himself and his cronies).The U.K. later realized that Alamieyeseigha was being framed up by Obasanjo and so they released him.

I think another reason why some Niger Delta politicians are cautious with what they do is that what may be tolerated in other parts of Nigeria, if done in the Delta may result in civil conflict. For example the Northern states are practising sharia and no one is talking about Nigeria`s loss of sovereignity to such states but if the states of the Delta made legislation on oil ownership or the ecology so *******s buccaneers in Abuja would remember that there is a word called sovereignity.
