Anambra State – The Real Truth Part 1 PDF Print E-mail
By Chidi Anyaeche

“A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps”. Proverbs 16:9

Pictures below were culled verbatim from ukpkakareports.com, a website managed by one Ikenna Ellis-Ezenekwe, an Andy Uba apologist. The pictures, which are real, are current images of Girls High School, Agulu, Anambra state in 21st Century Nigeria. Agulu happens to be the hometown of the current governor of Anambra state, His Excellency, Governor Peter Obi. This picture, readers represent the state of government owned schools in Anambra state, state-wide. No school is better. Even the governor’s Alma Matter, Christ the King College (CKC), Onitsha is worse. Trading and not sound education is Peter Obi’s calling hence the callous abandonment of education in Anambra state today.

For a state that is spending billions of taxpayer’s money constructing stadium and Stock Exchange buildings, where is the investment in education, in our children’s future? Have graduates of Agulu Girls High School been equipped by Peter Obi to work as Stock Brokers? Does it come as a surprise that all Peter’s kid are being educated in the UK, despite his vow that should he be elected governor that all his children must school in Anambra state? Is Andy Uba to blame? Is it the fault of Odenigbo? Short-term government projects that catch Peter’s attention are readily financed to the tilt in Anambra state today for they represent immediate kick-back (profit) just like importing orange juice containers, so funds are not the issue here.

I have quoted Proverbs 16:9 above to show that Ikenna Ellis-Ezenekwe, though working for Andy Uba is been used by the Lord via his website to present the real truth as it is in Anambra state today, for pictures do not lie. Ikenna’s heart is with Andy Uba but the Lord is directing his steps to salvage Anambra state from Peter Obi’s destruction. Readers are invited to call the Anambra state commissioner for education on 0806 3288708 for verification.

May I, again, remind His Excellency of his mantra – “The children we are abusing today will take their revenge on the society (our supposedly privileged children) tomorrow”.

Readers are invited to peruse the pictures below showing the state of government owned schools in Peter Obi’s Anambra state as at April 2008.

Let me first of all note that in Anambra today, we have many wars going on, it is not only budget war. Those who were stopped from milking the treasury of Anambra State are fighting the Government of Governor Obi at all fronts. This at once reminds us of what Nicolo Machiavelli said about change, the problems any person desirous of introducing a new order will certainly face. According to him, introducing a new order is one of the most difficult things to do, because you will have as enemies the powerful clique that benefited from the old order and lukewarm defenders in those that are not sure of your success. As Obi is trying to introduce a new order, he has as enemies all sort of organizations and persons some of his policies have commendably crippled. Even among some that work with him, it is sad to note that they grumble too on how the man does not willingly allow them to enjoy themselves, that is to play chess with the money belonging to the State, you and I. Often, when you hear some people, just as one of the members of Anambra House, Hon. Ikenna Mbazulike, complain that Obi’s public relations is not good, they are simply mourning the contracts refused them or money belonging to the State Obi refused to give to them, without justification. The same lawmaker was said to have insisted that one of the reasons he was fighting Obi was that he did not nominate his father for a national award. You see what we are saying, he wanted Obi to nominate his father, but Obi will rather consider merit. As far as people like him are concerned, governance must be personalized and once the Governor fails to do their bidding, war ensues. The way he even talked, delusion has set in for he suddenly see himself as operating on the same level with the Governor. This is why, in spite of the massive development of the state, which Hon Ben-Chuks Nwosu was trying to show to showcase the world during a television programme, Hon. Ikenna Mbazulike, out of residual and sadistic grief announced that those developments were the work Of Dame Virgy Etiaba. He immediately reminded us how the Mike Balonwu-led House attributed all the development attracted to the State by Obi to Mr. Andy Uba. To the discerning, Ikenna has also revealed those that conspire with them to undermine Peter Obi, one of the persons they are working for. The consolation we have in Anambra today is that sanity is returning. With the likes of Ikenna on their way out of the House via the courts, things are certainly looking up. The other members of the Anambra House supporting the passage of the budget made it clear that it is sadistic to deny Obi the budget he presented, in the light of the massive development of the State under him. In other words, they are saying that irrespective of belonging to different political parties, the man who is consumed with the development of the State must be supported at all times. They are not alone, for the likes of Senator Annie Okonkwor and Dr. Alex Ekwueme say the same thing. What Nebe and his group are doing is utterly condemnable. This is why Hon. Ozo Ughammadu declared openly that the Nebe group was externally manipulated by an Uga-born Abuja Politician. This is why some of us are saying that we need revolution in the State. Clearly, whoever is doing this, and those doing so with him, are misguided, groping in the dark and, as some Christians will say, need deliverance. It defies understanding that somebody served the Presidency for almost eight years with nothing to show for it. Under Prof. Dora Akunyili, as the Director General of NAFDAC, an ultra modern NAFDAC laboratory was built in Anambra State. Under Prof. Charles Soludo, Anambra State now has a Central Bank. Under Chief Chukwuemeka Chikelu as the Minister of Information, for two years plus, we can now boast of a Federal Information Centre. Even through the former Aso Rock Chaplain, Pastor (Dr.) Okoye, some towns in Anambra have Primary Health Centres. But under the Abuja politician, the most hated Anambra man alive, we only had and continued to have chaos. The sooner his prosecution and that of Obasanjo are started, the better for everybody. By have you asked yourself while Obi has continued to maintain his sanity in spite of the relentless efforts to make him lose focus? I had the privilege of listening to him on several occasions. Quite recently, on analyzing the candidature of those jostling to rule America, he said America would be in trouble, because none of the candidates had managed crisis before. As a business man, Obi said that one of the secrets of his success as a Governor is having managed crisis in the past, which has strengthened him to withstand the assault from renegades. While the renegades do not yet want to accept defeat, Obi has continued to develop the State simultaneously. When I saw his two years achievements, I marvelled. Though the man does not like propaganda, but singing his praises on achievements that are truly on ground is not bad at all. I have to say it because some governors claim to have done a lot, but only on paper. Permit me to sample some of the things contained in the documents, some of the projects I have personally visited. On coming into office, the man quickly reconstructed all the structures burnt down in the State during the mayhem of 2007, including Government House. Within two years in office, he handed over to the State a completed ultra modern Secretariat, fully furnished. Obi says that education is the greatest weapon for tomorrow’s competition. He has revolutionalised that area by the provision of lab equipments and computers to our schools. He plans, and is following it, the equipping of 40 schools per year. Some of our technical Schools have also regained their accreditations. With his attention to the sector, enrolment into schools has once again been on the increase. As a result of Governor Obi’s focus, many international organizations are coming to the state, seeking ways and means to collaborate with the State. All that the state need now is support for Obi and a re-think on the part of those fighting him for nothing sake. We therefore call on the Nebe-led faction of the State House of Assembly to come back to their senses. If they continue to fight a man who is trying more than ever before to better the lots of the State for the future of the children of the State, including theirs, them something must be terribly wrong with them. I choose not to believe that they were taken to Aguleri to swear oaths of perpetual obedience to their godfather until their blind allegiance to him proves it right. This senseless budget war must therefore stop. A member of Anambra State House of Assembly, Dr. Ozo Ughammadu, has traced the genesis of the budget crisis in the state to external manipulation. He said that the same people manipulating the Appropriation Committee were responsible for burning down government property in the state, including Government House in 2004, which the current governor, Peter Obi, had rebuilt. the Finance and Appropriation Committee chairman, Mbazulike Amaechi, who allocated 10 boreholes to his town while removing those of other towns. He also frowned at the cutting of the N1 billion allocated for the development of Awka Capital Territory to N200 million and submitted that all in all, some members of the House in collaboration with the Abuja politician, were bent on just frustrating Obi. "If the House is sincere, why do they have to cut all sub-heads meant for infrastructural development, such as roads, education, health, environment, only to increase theirs from N284 million to N1.3 billion, about 600 per cent increase?" he asked.

MY BROTHER, YOU HAVE SOLD YOUR SOUL TO THE DEVIL. MAY GOD FORGIVE YOU. DO YOU KNOW THAT THIS PICTURE ACTUALLY PROMOTES HIS EXCELLENCY, MR PETER OBI.

WHAT YOUR PICTURE SHOWS IS THAT OUR GOVERNOR PLANS HIS DEVELOPEMENT WITHOUT FAVOUR OR FEAR UNLIKE ETIABA OR NGIGE THAT BUILT ALL THE ROADS IN THEIR NATIVE TOWNS OR THE SELFISH AMAECHI THAT ALLOCATED 10 BOREHOLES TO HIS COMMUNITY WHILE REMOVING THOSE OF OTHER TOWNS. HE ALLOCATED 10 BOREHOLES IN HIS SO CALLED BUDGET (N57 BILLION) WHILE SOME TOWNS HAS NONE/ZERO.

HIS EXCELLENCY PLANNED THE SCHOOL RENOVATION IN PHASES. IT IS NOT YET AGULU GIRLS TURN. SO BECAUSE THE GOVERNOR IS FROM AGULU, HE WILL DEVELOPE EVERYTHING BEFORE THE KEY ONES.

THERE ARE SCHOOLS THAT ARE NOT SOUND LIKE THE AGULU GIRLS SO THEY WILL FIRST BE REBUILT BEFORE THE AGULU GIRLS OR DO YOU WANT WHAT HAPPENED IN OYO STATE TO HAPPEN IN ANAMBRA? DO YOU WANT THE BUILDING TO COLLAPSE AND KILL OUR FUTURE LEADERS?

MR PETER OBI IS WHAT NIGERIA NEEDS AT THE MOMENT. SOMEONE THAT WILL PRIORITISE DEVELOPEMENT WITHOUT FEAR OR FAVOUR.

WE HAD A DEBATE ON MR PETER OBI, YOU COULDN'T PRODUCE A SIMPLE EVIDENCE TO BACK UP YOUR CLAIM.

IF THE CREDIT CRUNCH IS HURTING YOUR POCKET, YOU WON'T GET A DINE BY BLACKMAILING PETER OBI. IF YOU WORK FOR THE UBA FAMILY, BE PROUD OF IT.

WE OWE NO ALLIANCE TO ANY PARTY, WE JUST WANT DEVELOPEMENT IN OUR STATE.

FOR THE 11 PATROTIC HOUSE MEMBERS, THOUGH WE DIDN'T VOTE FOR YOU BECAUSE THEIR WAS NO ELECTION.

WE VE DECIDED TO SUPPORT YOU IF THE YOU LOSE AT THE TRIBUNAL. MAY GOD BLESS YOU AS FIGHT THE CABALS

LONG LIVE HIS EXCELLENCY, MR PETER OBI
LONG LIVE NDI ANAMBRA AND ALL OTHER GOODWILL NIGERIAN THAT STANDS BY THE TRUTH
LONG LIVE THE PATROTIC 11 HOUSE MEMBERS

2008 IS A YEAR OF GODS FAVOUR IN OUR LIVES AND OUR STATE (ANAMBRA/ NIGERIA)

Chidi Anyaeche, please note this from us.The governor has no more point to make: his getting this far in spite of everything is the will of God and nothing, to us, can alter that course of history. But, mark my words: if the intention of the lawmakers is to castrate Governor Obi by starving him of funds, they will end up shooting themselves in the foot.

Mr Anyaeche comes across as one who is truely concerned for his state, hence his seeming grief at the "abandonment of education" by the present government. May I attempt to console him by drawing his attention to the following facts:
1. The situation of our schools is really nothing to write home about. But it is not as if Gov Obi destroyed the schools. A degeneration that took decades to occur cannot be remedied in just two years. I should all be alarmed like Mr Anyaeche if this situation has escaped the attention of the governor. Happily, it has not - the contentious 2008 appropriation bill attests to this.
2. The singling out of Agulu GHS and CKC smacks of the retrogressive notion that an elected official should take care of his town's and friends' interests above all else. I do not think that it would be difficult for the governor to fix his village and even cite a campus of the state university in his alma mater as some might do. This would be playing to primordial selfish and retrogressive instincts. An elected governor's constituency is the whole state, not just some part of it.
3. The insinuation that trading is not compatible with education is insulting and merely chases shadows. What did the non-trader former governors of the state do on behalf of education in the state? If they did much we would not be where we are today.
4. The notion that the stock exchange building is somehow not in the interest of the taxpayer is misleading. The stock exchange is not primarily for stock brokers but for investors, and anyone can become one. It offers Anambrarians who are predominantly traders to have resources that cannot be destoyed in an overnight market fire. It gives traders and non traders alike the opportunty to plan seriously for life after retirement. It even give students opportunity to save for their further education and future life. It is an accomplishment that will produce a paradigm change in the mental and material habits of Anambrarians. For one, it will afford traders the leisure the do not currently have to think seriously about how their state is governed. The distractions of having to be at the markets from sunrise to sunset have so far denied them this leisure. The consequence has been that Anambra, a state of great achievers has for long been in the stranglehold of goons.
5. Truth should be global and not just perspectival. The factual pictures of the Agulu GHS classroom could be counterbalanced by another factual picture of the phisics laboratory of that same school which you chose to ignore, or that of the CKC library. Truth is not equivalent to a guided selection of facts.
6. Anambra state still has a long way to go, but for the first time it can be sincerely be said to be on course - at the highest leadership level.

Thumbs down for this article and its writer. The same gang Chinua Achebe in his rejection of Obj's "national" award accused of brigandage in Anambra would not let this traumatised state to be!

Chidi,
So, you are now relying on Ikenna to buttress your jaundiced views? Sorry mate, you are becoming an embarrassment. What your present article has achieved, is to show that Peter Obi is not the usual run - off - the - mill Nigerian Politician. Nothing stops him from turning all the schools in his area into mega institutions at the expense of other schools in the state or even relocating the state university to Agulu. Rather he adopted a systemic approach so that all the local govt areas will receive equal attention.
Your picture has shown why the state budget should not be reduced. If you really love your state as you claims,it will be obvious to you that all these schools in bad condition need urgent attention. And there must be funds to turn them around.
About God using Ikenna to do some work? Tufiakwa! The God you are talking about must be the one with the letter 'g'. The God of many Anambrararians, does not condone destruction or selfish interests. This God seeks for the greater good of his people.

Chidi,
The more you try to blackmail his excellency, the more you expose your level of education and sense of maturity.

Why do you use information from a know Ubah "barking dog"? It shows that you are bias in your write ups because being an uba supporter, the guy won't see anything good in the current governor.

You and ikenna made todays gospel reading easy to understand. People like you two will never see anything good in this government because your understanding of politics is "Share the money, and do nothing".

For the record, you live in London but you won't believe what the home based or recently travelled citizens tell you.

I feel sad because people like you are a DISGRACE to the igbo race. We have started preparing documents to recall those 19 fools that wants to retard the growth of the state.

We won't stop there, we ll make sure that they are ex-communicated from the church and their communities.

Truth is like pregnancy, you can't hide it. Why don't you join hands with his excellency and move the state forward.

Where were you when Mbadinuju closed the state schools for 18 months? where were you?

There is no vacancy till 2014, when his excellency will go for presidency.
