Are Nigerians Cowards? (2) PDF Print E-mail
By Carlisle U.O. Umunnah

 Nigerians Are Cowards (2)

At this critical moment of critical fundamental constitutional illegitimacies, especially one placated with the least democratic tenets—found in massive rigging, ballot stuffing, intimidation, killings et al, demands for a critical conversation by all stakeholders is a must. The said 2007 exercise is nothing but sheer mockery of the franchise. It is therefore incumbent upon the populace to defend their constitutional and universal rights in the face of unprovoked aggressions and hostilities against her. Its existence and survival depends on it. These rights are inalienable and God given rights. Citizenry have all rights, privileges and immunities to choose their actual representatives and leaders as they deem fit not otherwise. From what took place in 2007 “elections” can be summed up in one word: charade. It is indeed one of the greatest fallacies ever in history. Can we say this is an additional gathering storm toward isolationism of this estate of the living and rational thinking or what?  Shall we say that this is the waterloo of this British microcosm—a creationism that has refused to move forward since its bogus-foundations were founded without the consents or ratifications of its habitats? Are we healing or are we depleting further this plate by these selectionisms?

Essentially, INEC, Iwu and this administration have shown once-again that they are a disgrace to the Negroes and the entire human-race. They failed to realize that unabated accompaniment of illegality, justification of injustice, blandishment of banditry and all other provocations including criminal posturing as demonstrated and computed at indexes of illegitimacies is atrocious and will be resisted. This impunity without shame as dramatized and characterized by this dysfunctional administration, with report presented by local and international monitoring groups is sullied and sad for our times and for all generations. Other communications in the just concluded 2007 selections were declared as a “Charade” by the aforementioned entities and all. Its charadic nature did not meet the slimmest elements of constitutionality, constitutional restructuring for a nation who claims to be on the track for democratic principles let lone democratic consolidations. Evidently, as millions of its electorates were intentionally and massively disenfranchised by electoral irregularities by governmental establishments it become relevant to ask: isn’t a fool at 47 a fool forever? Indeed, the outcome of these elections came out as we earlier predicted: targeted and massive irregularities and a sham. This group of thieves called leaders have failed woefully to correct the errors of the past and these new failings as exhibited in these irresponsibility, including incompetence executing electioneering obligations saddled her is overwhelmingly staggering. Rather than nurture and increase democratic gains if any, it used its corrupt organizational machineries and settle for defeatism. It besieged the land, insulted the intelligence of this peoples in this grandstanding without shame or recourse. What a miscalculation. In a civilized society, the citizenry response will be swift and decisive in repealing governmental impunities by deploying mass-action and other ways and means to straighten things up. Nonetheless, when it comes to the country called Nigeria and Nigerians, I am afraid, it is filled with a hallmark of corrupt imbeciles who have abandoned virtues, integrity and honor for little pennies and scrums. This population succumbs to mundane and institutional shame—rather than overthrown corrupt institutions they twist in the air, stands-by in the wings in preparations to joining these plunderers and become one too. As monumental as this cascade of embarrassments went, it is far monumental with its unimaginable magnitude and the brazen openness this electoral fraud occurred this time around; they were overwhelmingly stupefying with a record high of sanctimony of massively rigged elections in history. According to additional reports, the circumstances leading to this insult were created by Obasanjo, INEC officials and Iwu in particular because of greed and bigotry. It was the greatest rigged elections in history irrespective of observers on the ground, they rigged it anyway. What happened to societal shame? Go figure it out. Whatever irregularities, whatever calamity and disaster this country called Nigeria faces in nurturing democracy, whatever irregularities that took place in 2007 selections or elections conducted by INEC under the supervision of Iwu, the outcome were what Iwu and Obasanjo, PDP and their cronies wanted. The chances are that these fellows and their sycophants have compromised and dashed the hopes and aspirations of millions of lives because of incompetence and manipulations. Given this irresponsible ugly act as demonstrated the INEC and company has given additional impetus to regionalism, or confederate states as the only forward-looking strategy within the UNION of this geographical expression called Nigeria to survive as a republic.

Conversely, it is noteworthy to remark that as at Friday, a day before the election proper, the ballot materials and other electioneering documentations in their millions were still hoarded in Southern African country. The election materials made it late to INEC Headquarters, Abuja . In some zones or states, elections started at 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm respectively one can imagine when it elapsed. Worse still, voting materials were never distributed to zonal offices of INEC across the country till, the following day which is Saturday when they were discarded by the waysides by these crooks and their agents. The disappointed masses that made it to the polling centers under scotching heat of the sun were turned down as there were no ballot papers to vote. Other sources believed that the military, police and, INEC officials and SSS personals hijacked over 30% of whatever electoral materials that came in—stamping, printing and voting for PDP candidates even in areas where PDP never fielded any candidate as the cowardly ridden population wallowed and swallowed their pride. In a corrupt society were government establishments and its organs failed in its duty and responsibility to the republic, such government needs be overthrown and in its place a new government installed.  For a new enterprise to emerge the citizenry must, task and take risks some of the times, if and when attacked by oppressive bunkums that supposed to protect lives and properties. Nigerians being their coward-self have disappointed once-again as always. All it takes is a little dollar or Naira change in their dry-hands, sit back and watch them vacillated to the corner of the streets and returned to their empty-shells called homes of hopelessness and shamelessness. The question therefore is: who would expect a handpicked man rather than elected representative to represent her? Can such bogus-representative that lacks constitutional legitimacy represent peoples’ interests at the comity of nations or within the financial districts of world’s capitals?  Of course NO! Illegitimacy smells pretty nasty here, sir. Illegitimacy can only beget illegitimacy. Period. End of story.

For records, world-over, if illegalities a-wash the plate, citizenry swiftly respond to confront it. This is especially necessary if and when the so-called leaders’ acts with belligerent postures as if they are indispensable, then appropriately ways to show them the way is legitimate. Despots and political crooks whether under a totalitarian regime or under narcissistic unconstitutional sullied democracy needs be confronted squarely and heads-on, failure to challenge them, legitimizes their illegitimacies at peoples peril. Again and sadly-so, when it comes to folks called Nigerians, I am afraid they are political imbeciles and opportunists—all noises with diminished pride, what-else. Not until countrymen and countrywomen learn to be responsible and take charge of their future, take charge of their universal rights and immunities their, longing and quest for political restructuring, freedom and global and domestic economic positioning will not take-off any time soon, and will remain a mere wishful thinking. If this writer may confront them directly: don’t you see that you are a disappointment to the new world ORDER, digital revolution in commerce, international Tele-communication, pace-setting innovations with global reach while depending on foreign made productions? What will you bequeath your posterity today and tomorrow if you have no legacy to leave behind of your checkered-self? As educational innovations, creativity, democracy and sustainable development becomes the new ORDER globally, rather than join the institutional developments, you are turning back-the-time to disorderliness and recklessness. Even the stone-age Era is more organized than your delusional bogus-democratic process found within your borders. In each of your family lives a thief no questions asked only dollars matters to your humanity today than anything else, what happened to your ancient respected traditions, value for family and protection of family names? You are finished! Mark today’s date: history will never forgive you for your cowardice; you want to live in a sophisticated modernity but don’t want to pay a prize for a quest for a sophisticated modern[ity] existence. You salivate for life enjoyments of all that are good but reject ethic-operability and monitoring financial equipment and expenditures. You still have another chance in reclaiming your birth-rights and re-establishing yourselves to the part of human family otherwise be gone forever. It is your duty and responsibility to liberate yourself and your posterity by any means necessary by rejecting today’s insult called elections by all means. Changing your history, destiny and more must begin from your homes for your survival to come. Rejecting this puppet called Yar’Adua and his Jihadist fundamentalism is the right thing to do because there is no relationship and friendship between paganism and righteousness. He lives and breathes Sharia constitution that conflicts with democratic constitutionalism as he and his cronies pretend political purity. This Yar’Adua-Jonathan criminal ticket is a retrogression of any known constitutional actual representation consented by the people. Driving these thieves and their foreign and domestic masters with all available capacity and audacity is the only way-forward, sir. It is time to jettison these satanic creatures into the trashcan of oblivion as their appearance is a misnomer and counter-productive of any known democratic tenets and electoral relevance, rational and critical thinking, at al.

If you are succumbing to cowardice, remember that it both brings individual and institutional defeatism and indeed a defeat of great capacity of idealism and altruism found in human virtues that have turned aberrational. When cowardly society is entrenched against itself or those of the governed, they perish and are left psychologically traumatized. What follow is that it reduces its victims into a state-of-dinosaurs and other caricatures. In an era of fraudulent entities, lying densely low will be more damaging to human conscientiousness of rational-thinking and compromised skills with de-strengthened abilities, while in the other hand, challenging today’s difficulties is a move to liberating our humanity from internal dungeons of tortures of do-nothings—emptiness and hopelessness. The choice is yours: you have to choose between allowing rogues to hold you hostage into a perpetual servitude and mockery or fight for your freedom and give hope to posterity today and tomorrow or be damned. Liberation can come. It can be done: when courage is summoned, folks do their duty by, aggressively re-asserting their rights to citizenships as the source of power including holding unto their universal rights and suffrage by changing their situation, doing something about undemocratically selected individuals through mass-action and sending a strong message—that its rights cannot be taken for granted, making sure that criminal posturing goes unchallenged with hands-on attitude will be a good start toward taking back your power as a people. It is appropriate to bring that plate to a stand-still so that we can negotiate on equal footing for all stakeholders or pull it down completely. Liberation and freedom comes with a prize, but it is worth it. As this will chart a NEW-Frontier of actual representation and order for our peoples, a NEW-Frontier of liberation and freedom into a better future of all things including equality of all before a constitutional law consented and owned by the people for its orderly and respectable existence. The gathering danger ahead, demands that honorable men and women must stand-up against evils and ills, prioritize their resources toward building a constructive franchise they can call their own, with readiness and preparedness to aggressively defend her without fears or favors.

Today’s rotten and broken estate is finished; its collapse is necessary for the UNION to begin a-new, with a true-head-count toward a NEW frontier susceptible to creativity, accountability, ingenuity, responsible leaderships, transparency and reliable structures installed. TIMELY and immediate dismantlement of this delusional, immovable old brigades that lacked directionality in a misplaced franchise is overdue if it refused to accept peoples’ will. In its place, organizationally equipped and liable leadership and ethics-based infrastructures and or institutions with candor established, will suffice. In short, unchaining fictional and non-fictional prisons of known and unknown praxis—replacing fear with fearlessness and state-of-the-art benchmarks with flexibility to accommodate changing times, for a workable, durable and envisaged NEW ORDER will let the prisoner[s] go free. The engineering of cowardice and freedom-cries are imbedded in human-mind as human-mind is a theater, playing-out of human consciousness and unconsciousness for its redemption or self-destruct. This in-between-ness of life and death creativity remains the totality of finiteness—a full-measure of a man personified is revealed by his actions and inactions. This is infinitely relevant in times of difficulties and challenges rather than in times of comfort and merry-making. Choose you this day the part of freedom or would it be appropriate for this writer to conclude that you have chosen the part of institutional cowardice, treacheries and grandstanding at the end of this era.  Cowardice, mischief-makers and traitors must give-way in all totality, in all governmental and private establishments for a new order, and, a new leadership to emerge nationally as a consensus UNION or regionally as independent nations-states.

@CARLISLEU.O. UMUNNAH

>> creationism; selectionisms; et cetera

With great respect, “Creationism is a theory which espouses the idea that all forms of life were created simultaneously by god (this is in contrast to evolution theory). What then does “Creationism” have to do with creation of Nigeria?

Alternatively, if you are redefining a known word, theory, idea or concept, then tell the reader your new definition, and why you are breaking with convention.

It is NOT the first time you have used “Creationism” and other “-isms”in your articles but you don’t seem to accept feedbacks and yet you have the audacity and arrogance to say: “This group of thieves called leaders have failed woefully to correct the errors of the past and these new failings as exhibited in these irresponsibility…”

Criticism is cheap. Your woeful failure to learn from your own errors in past articles on NVS makes you morally decrepit to criticise others on their failings.

Story story

Carlisle,

Nigerians are reputed for missing the point most of the time, your article if you really are a Nigerian and understands its problems and shortcomings should be this and this only...

WHY ARE NIGERIANS COWARDS?

It is an already established fact that we are!!

Such articles telling us what we already know are clogging up cyberspace.

We need articles with solutions.

Documenting what INEC and whoever did on the day to disrobe our democracy is nothing short of repetition, I want to be seeing how you think the people can embark on massive revolt with a view to full fledged revolution to flush out the cancer in our system.

ONLY the people can fix it now, it cannot be salvaged by the judiciary, executive, legislative or the military.

Personally I feel we should tackle our disunity before addressing our cowardice. It would be a lot easier to convince people if they were united and on ‘your side’ than if they were disunited; keep in mind that there has got to be a leader in any gathering of like-minded people.

We are direct products of our environment and our problems are defined meaningfully in terms of that environment. At the heart of our disunity is tribalism, a demoralizing challenge that we face in Nigeria. Most Nigerians are not willing to give-up their tribal allegiances so how can we act collectively to achieve our goals? This has always been the underlying problem and after the shenanigans of the last election it seems Nigeria has now decisively and irreversibly entered a period of precipitous decline. I say this because the only institution capable of preserving what is best about Nigeria has done the opposite, has left Nigerians thinking what have we done to deserve this, where is the light, what can we do about it? In order for us to do something collectively and achieve results, we have to be homogenous.
