The good can only surface, when it is affirmed continously. Print E-mail

It is time we focus on the positive, affirm what is good and uplifting, and stop tearing down those that have volunteered to lead.

Yar'Adua has won the election. He was perhaps the best candidate amongst those that contested, and as such; should be given the due respect for taking the chance.  As much as I may not like the thought of another Muslim man leading Nigeria , I must put my sentiments aside and see Yar’dua as an individual, a human being, and perhaps a great man who may do much good if only we would sincerely support him with prayer.

Yar’Adua alone cannot run Nigerian, even as honorable as he is. Nigerian is a very difficult country to rule and the people, often very impatient, critical and sometimes hard to deal with.

What we really need to do is step up, and ask what we can do to make Nigeria a better place for all. President-elect, Yar’Adua is a Northerner, and northerners are Nigerians. We are all Nigerians, and it is high time we abandon the 'fear mentality' that Hausa man is dominating Nigerian.

It is time we put aside the bad habits of name-calling, bad-mouthing those that wants to do something. It is time we stop and raise the banner of hope for Yar’Adua and the rest of Nigerians, including those that did not win the election.  Yar’Adua is a man who has done good with his electoral office; therefore, we should give him a chance to lead.

We tend to focus on the negative of what we thought, someone has done wrong. Why do we always see the negative, yet the good is what is? Shouting insults, just because we heard someone cry fowl does not mean it is so.  It is time we take a good look at ourselves, because the problem, where there is any, is within us. The solution is within; we only need to think.

If we keep saying, the vote didn't go well, and there was no election, what then, have we done to make it better?  What are we doing to make Nigerian a great country? What will be the legacy of you, "the accusers", of Nigerian government?  President Obasanjo has been butchered almost to shreds, yet he has done much more for the country than the past leaders in regards to tearing down corrupt practices, and diversifying the military. We should applaud President Obasenjo for what he has tried to achieve, though he made mistakes along the line. Who wouldn’t?

It is not a small business ruling a country such as Nigeria . Therefore, let us pull together and support Yar’Adua so Nigerian can be better for us all.

What if Babaginda or Atiku was the winner? What would we have done? We would have supported them, and then pray and hope for the best from them.  I think Yar'Adua deserves a befitting applause- given that he has been a good leader as Governor for eight years. Let us all pray for Nigeria and hope that the next four years will see the country through greatness.  Nigeria is a great country with good people, and great talents.  Let's hope for the best by believing in the best for Nigeria .

I read somewhere that there is a call for protest in Nigeria , I think such protest will produce nothing good. The time for protest has long gone. If there is anything to be done, I employ all Nigerians to join hand in prayer and reach out to Yar’Adua, and ask, what they can do to make Nigeria a better place.  If peace protest, as it is being called, is conducted in cities around Nigeria , I hope it is actually peaceful. Since historically, protests in Nigeria has always resulted in lose of innocent lives. I hope this time around, the protest would be peaceful and human lives will not be lost, since what we need in Nigeria , is tranquility, and not violence or war.

Congratulation to President-elect Yar’Adua, I pray for your good health, and I ask that God give you the strength and long life to make good with all the promises that you've made to millions of Nigerians.

Pray, tell me who you will be praying to. The God I know, the creator of mankind is of truth, justice and goodness and has no room for the work of darkness which is what brought those you want us to pray for into power. BTW I read somewhere that the tin god behind the rigging in this election is a "born against Christian". Who then should be surprised by his fruit. Please do not call upon God in vain. The only prayer they need now is for them to repent of their breaking the commandment that says, "thou shalt not steal" and relinquish what they stole.

Blessing thank you so much for this write up, we need more people of goodwill like you, not someone like Yekere of no redeming qualities, who sees no good in anything Nigerian.

STTOP,

There are good people in Nigeria. There are beautiful topography in Nigeria, there are exotic rivers in Nigeria and there are men and women of honor in Nigeria.

But there are also demons and far less honorable people in Nigeria. Most of them are in PDP the theiving party. Such are so less honorable that they are best likened to those thieves and money changers that Christ used the whip to drive out of the temple.

Guess what; those money changers had sympathisers who prefered that Christ left the crooks alone and prayed for them. There is time for everything. We have waited too long for these demon possesed leaders to leave us alone but they have refused and have not stopped their evil deeds.

We have been praying. The Yoruba say " Ma koja mi Olugbala k'inse orin akunle ko" that is to say that the prayer-song "(Lord) do not pass me by" is not the kind of song-prayer you sing kneeling down. This is one of such. We should be praying with action to weed out these cancerous elements of our society.

If you are one of their supporters, you need to think again because God is going to destroy them and their supporters and he will use people to do so unless you and they repent now.

Welcome to the real world Yakere, it is the battle between good and evil, i don't believe that God has taken any side because he created them all. It's just that everyone will rip from what they sow.

Sttop,

You got that right as regards the real world. It is the real world that will fall under judgement before God. Matthew 24:35 says that "Heaven & Earth will pass away, but My(God's) word will by no means pass away" Also check same Matthew 5:17-18. My friend the wicked wil not go unpunished. History supports that.

So stay clear of supporting any evil otherwise you will become a collateral casualty. The magnitude of injustice, and the impunity of it associated with this 2007 election in our country is unprecedented in the history of any nation. A leader declared "do or die" and carried it out to the letter and you now want men of honor and intergrity among us to keep quiet. Anyone who keeps quiet should know that he or she is an accomplice. That is why I must count myself out. I would rather identify with the truth.

The 2007 election will leave an indelible mark on Nigerians especially those in the diaspora. They already view us with suspicion and now our leader has proved them right. How can they now respect us.

We are witnessing a scenario best described by the Yoruba as "Agba ti o fe ku, ti o su si aga". That is, the old man who knew he was about to die but went ahead on purpose to poo on the chair in other to punish those he is leaving behing.

OBJ decided to punish the whole country because he was refused third (in reality 4th) term. How selfish can a man be, his so called achievements not withstanding. He could have done far more and left gracefully; but no he must punish the country and take a top position in his PDP to continue to call the shots. And you want good citizens to keep quiet.
