As the world’s irreplaceable fossil fuel reserves are depleted, theOlduvia slope symbolizes the downward spiral of per capital energy consumptionconcomitance with the collapse of industrialized civilization. The Olduvai theory is about the utilization of naturalresources and its implications for society, especially thoughtless ones. Specifically it examines the use of fossil fuel forgeneration of energy and the potential for disaster should these resources runout with no alternative means in place. It is a data based hypothesis whichstrongly indicates that by analyzing the historical trend of energy usage andknown fossil fuel reserves, the life expectancy of an industrial civilizationbased upon the usage of fossil sources is approximately 130 years.
